Painted Ceilings.

I’m in the process of painting our bedroom and the boyfriend asked me while we were getting ready for bed last night … Are you going to paint the ceiling? Uh, I dunno was my reply.  Which then lead to me staring up at the ceiling from bed for the next 20 minutes thinking if it would be worth the trouble and if it was worth the trouble… What color?  Our new home (we bought a home in March – no more renting!) is just that brand new, so all the walls and ceilings are boring builder beige.  But, now that we can paint the walls any dang color we want without having to worry about covering it up at the end of a lease, it’s an awesome feeling.  Anyway, back to whether or not to paint the ceiling.  This is the color of master bedroom walls (we color matched Behr paint/primer in one for better coverage) and it looks amazing with the white trim and doors in the room, but with the ceiling as the only space left in builder beige, it now comes across as a dingy, dirty white compared to everything else.

So after a little browsing for some inspiration and ideas here are a few of my favorites…

Definitely drawn to the darker colors and I’m thinking the easiest solution will be to go with the same color as the walls.  The main reason I’m drawn to that idea is the fact that I won’t have to worry about painting straight lines where the ceiling meets the wall.  We have lightly textured walls and even with tape things don’t always come out nice and crisp.  Although one of my favorites that I was unable to share (the picture was tiny) was a grey ceiling with moss green walls.   Very similar to my own wall color and I do LOVE gray… No matter what I definitely think I want to paint the ceiling instead of leaving it alone…decisions, decisions.
